Easy Homemade Pizza

I could probably eat pizza every day, I love it! Well, pizza and mac and cheese. I guess I just love carbs :) I stumbled upon this fail-proof pizza crust recipe on good ‘ole pinterest a few years ago and haven’t looked back since. I can’t remember the last time I bought frozen pizza, and that is coming from someone who served Digornio once a week. This recipe is so so so easy, only uses 5 ingredients and it pretty quick (if you don’t count the rising time :)

Here is what you need: (you could use whole wheat flour to make it healthier!)

Flour, salt, honey, yeast and oil.

Whisk the yeast (2 and 1/4 teaspoons) in 1 cup of warm water. Add a tablespoon of honey. Whisk. Add two teaspoons of salt. Whisk. Two tablespoons of oil. Whisk. Then add three cups of flour and stir with a spoon until you get a shaggy dough, just enough to mix it all together.

Knead or use the hook of a standing mixer for about 6 min. Until the dough comes back when you push on it.

Make a ball. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or so. If I forget about it or get busy sometimes it is 1.5 hours :)

After about an hour or so, pre-heat the oven to 450 and punch the dough down and split into two balls. This recipe makes two large pizzas or if you want 4 smaller ones then split into 4 balls. Roll one of the dough balls into the shape of your pan, I use a rectangle pan. Add your toppings, this time I made cheesy garlic bread and buffalo chicken, but you can add whatever your heart desires! Veggies, bbq sauce, pesto, taco pizza, the sky is the limit! Bake for 8 or so min.

YUM! Delicious homemade pizza!

I spread some minced garlic on the dough and then covered it with mozzarella.

When cooking the chicken I added hot sauce. Then when I added the chicken to the dough, I used more hot sauce. Covered it all in shredded mozzarella and topped it with red pepper flakes. (one side was just chicken and cheese, for the not-fans-of-spicey family members :)

Thanks, I’ve been trying out pizza dough recipes and I’ll be adding this time my list! Our whole family could live on pizza! I’ve been trying to cook from scratch to improve my health and it’s made a big difference. I used to have a frozen pizza night weekly or biweekly til I realized the processed dough and sauce contributes to my migraines. Have you tried to freeze the dough?

Yeah I can’t believe how much better I feel when I eliminate processed “food” and replace it with real food! Freezing it works great! Actually I usually double it and freeze two dough balls. Then in the morning of the day I want to bake them, I just put them in the fridge, by the afternoon they are usually thawed.
