DIY Etched Glassware

It was a homemade Christmas this year! Which was a lot of fun and easy on the ‘ole wallet. Especially this one, since instead of buying new glasses, I just took some from my parent’s house! Frugal and sneaky! 🙂

My dad likes whiskey and bourbon (maybe they are the same thing…not too sure, it’s my husband’s job to pick out the booze) and my mom likes wine. So I set out to make monogrammed wine glasses and whiskey tumblers. As I was “borrowing” the glasses from their house, my dad caught me and said “Hey, what are you doing? Those are my favorite glasses!” Which of course made me so so so nervous that I would mess them up…but I went ahead with my master plan anyway!

Here is what you need
Etching Cream (I got a small container at Hobby Lobby for 10 bucks)
Tape (Painters tape would have been the best, but all I had was scotch)

Here is what you do
Clean the glasses. Tape off what you don’t want to etch. Apply the cream. Wait 5 min. Wash off under running water and then wipe off any excess. Easy peasy!

Pair them with some homemade goodies and a bottle of their favorite beverage!
