This blog is meant to encourage the reader to live healthy, mainly through how we treat our bodies and how we spend our time. I know it can be controversial to add my faith to the mix, but my faith is a huge part of who I am and it is through that lens that I see the world. I was recently reminded about my future and it was really refreshing to me, so I thought I would share it with you!
For a little sneak peak into my personal life…our family has been through quite the ringer this past year; a terrible accident, cancer, and an eye opening, very painful experience concerning..well…I am not going to get into that right now 🙂 all at times leaving me in tears, angry, bitter, sad and lost…but never alone! God had blessed us with dear family and friends that have defined love and support! They were/are His hands and feet! Just this past week I was gently reminded to keep an eternal focus. A profound truth that I know and have learned many years ago, but let slip to the back of my mind and heart, not really effecting my daily life. The truth of the matter is, if you are reading this post, no matter where you are, you are not home. True story! I don’t know where that is for you, but by God’s grace, I believe that my true home is with Him! Either reigning with Him in heaven or here on earth when He comes back! Oh, I can’t wait!
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
2 Peter 3:13
But keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
My home is with my Father, my King. I can’t wait! “Come LORD! Come!” If you believe this to be true for you, if you call Jesus your Savior and God your Father, how does the fact that you will reign with Him forever and ever in your true home effect your daily life? For me, it changes how I view money, love, things I hope for and in, and forgiveness to name a few. It helps remind me just how much I have been saved from and how thankful I am for Christ! I know that life will get crazy and I will push this to the back of my mind again, when that happens I pray that God will gently remind me again about His love for me, my true future and home.
1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
2 Peter 3:14
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
What I found important yesterday, seems trivial today, as I look to the cross and set my hope in Him. God, please continue to soften my heart and strengthen my faith as I lean on you!
Side note 🙂 I saw this clip a few years ago and thought it was an interesting perspective, especially coming from an atheist’s point of view.
