Tonight I decided to make some spaghetti…spaghetti squash that is!
I love it! I really do like the taste, even without a ton of spices. But for my picky little chicks I decided to spruce it up a bit.
What you need
1 Spaghetti Squash
whatever spices you like
What you do
I cut it in half, placed it face down in a dish with about 1/2 inch of water, and put in a pre-heated oven at 400 degrees for about 30 min. or until you can pierce outside with a fork.
Then just use a fork or spoon and scoop it out. I tossed it in grapeseed oil, a little salt, a dash of pepper, a pinch of garlic powder and some chopped red peppers. Yum!
I am not going to say they ate it up like fried chicken, but they did eat it and there weren’t too many complaints. It might not be as popular as pizza bread, but spaghetti squash has found it’s way to our table quite a few times! Got to get those veggies in them some time! 🙂
Really, you can do so much with spaghetti squash! You can toss in any veggies you want, even chicken or shrimp. I was going to toss in some spaghetti sauce, but decided to go with the oil instead. So many options! You can even blend it and add the puree to a dish for a sneaky way to get veggies in your family’s diet!
